At the time of the initial examination, we will determine if orthodontic services are needed, and give you a general idea of the orthodontic problems and treatment involved. If orthodontic services are needed, diagnostic records will be required in addition to the clinical exam to further analyze existing problems, and to plan the course of treatment.
Diagnostic records generally include study models of the teeth and supporting bone, cephalometric and panoramic x-rays of the teeth and jaws, and facial and intraoral photographs. Approximately 30 minutes will be required to obtain the orthodontic records. A records fee is necessary at the time of records to cover the expense of this comprehensive diagnostic work-up and treatment planning.
During the consultation appointment the specific problems and plan of treatment will be discussed in detail. The fee for the orthodontic treatment, the anticipated length, and the necessity of cooperation will be addressed. The consultation appointment generally requires 20-30 minutes to discuss the treatment plan and answer questions. Please feel free to ask questions at any time during the consultation appointment.
